Bulky and expensive, but ultimately well worth the cash
Well-designed ; Great app ; Multiple smart assistant support
Bulky ; A little pricey
The August Smart Lock Pro is bulky and expensive, but ultimately well worth the cash – especially if you’re a heavy HomeKit, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa user. The August Smart Lock is a great way to give your lock smart features without doing...

August's Bluetooth-, Z-Wave- and Wi-Fi-friendly Smart Lock Pro gives you tons of options.
Your August Smart Lock Pro purchase includes a DIY smart lock, a Connect Wi-Fi module and a DoorSense open/close sensor -- all for $279. The Pro also supports Z-Wave (hub not included) and works with Amazon Alexa speakers, the Google Home, Apple...
You can't buy the Pro as a standalone lock in stores; Z-Wave customers/anyone not interested in the Connect accessory must go through August's list of professional dealers.

When it comes to connected locks, August is rightly one of the first names that comes to mind, and now there's a new flagship aiming for a spot on your door frame. The August Smart Lock Pro may look like its predecessor, but inside it's all-change with...
Easy to install ; Broad smart home compatibility ; DoorSense is legitimately upgrade-worthy
Expensive, especially if you're upgrading multiple doors ; Apple HomeKit doesn't get full DoorSense support

But we can't recommend the second and less-expensive new model.
DoorSense feature is a killer addition that lets August know whether the door is ajar ; Ample notifications ; Integrates well with tons of smart home gear ; Very affordable, one of the cheapest smart lock systems on the market ; Has most of the same...
Hardware remains on the large side ; Still quite expensive ; Myriad bugs in beta release of app ; Setup bugs are severe, with too many to merit a recommendation ; Louder and clunkier than the pro mechanism ; Rather unappealing design
And now for something completely different: Introducing the new third-generation version of the entry-level August Smart Lock.

An easy installation process, a solid app experience and lots of helpful features and smart-home integrations make the August Smart Lock Pro a great choice.
The August Smart Lock Pro performs its tasks well, and its settings are so flexible that it's easy to get it to do just what you want. Additionally, August's other products (such as the keypad and doorbell cam) further add to the functionality of the...
