The Surface Go 2 is the successor to Microsoft's popular tablet, but are the minor upgrades enough to help chapllenge Apple's iPad?
Slimmer bezels result in a more stylish design;Bright and colourful display;Good battery life ;Superb microphones and webcam
Entry-level model has poor performance;Windows 10 S mode has lots of restrictions ;Not a very touchscreen-friendly UI;Type Cover is expensive and can’t replace keyboard

Another affordable win for Microsoft?
Premium design ; Affordable ; Can run full Windows 10 ; Very good battery life
No Touch Cover or stylus included ; Base model's specs are weak ; Windows Store still too bare

T3's Microsoft Surface Go 2 review is here. How well does the Surface Go 2 work in practice?
Beautiful touchscreen ; Great battery life ; Runs Windows ; Strong 2-in-1 functionality
Not a powerful laptop
If you want a tablet you can turn into a real-life laptop, The Surface Go is the best in class. Just don’t expect it to match the power of a Surface Pro.

With more screen real-estate than the original, is the portable, affordable Windows 2-in-1 device better than ever? Check our our review
Smaller bezels than original model ; Great (optional) Type Cover keyboard makes this a mini laptop alternative ; Battery life solid for streaming
Accessories up the price a lot ; Overall battery life not the very best going ; Windows 10 S Mode has its limitations ; Only one USB-C port
A nip and tuck of the original model with more screen real-estate. Although it's not super-powerful, it is super-portable and delivers as much as it ought to from a stylish little package. A great iPad Pro or Chromebook contender in the Windows space.

The miniature Surface is back, this time with beefed-up internals and more modern display design. Surface Go 2 may not compete with powerhouses like the iPad Pro 2020 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus but it certainly improves upon its entry-level appeal.
– New slim bezels, striking display and improved battery life
– Base model offers weak performance and Windows 10 S mode restrictions
Surface Go 2 might be the best-looking small tablet you can buy but it comes with several compromises. If you love the design, you’ll likely make do with the shortcomings but if you chose this device for more practical use then be cautious with the...

The ideal work-from-home hybrid
Has the gloss affordable Windows laptops lack ; Surprisingly good fun for gaming ; Good camera for video chat ; Solid battery life
Can only handle non-taxing apps well ; Accessories are pricey
Just enough power to perform and some must-have accessories make the Go 2 a genuine iPad rival

Microsoft's cheapest 2-in-1 offers excellent value for money on paper, but you'll need to spend much more than £399 to get the most out of it

Microsoft's new budget 2-in-1 is a refined and beautifully portable success
Great design and display ; Improved battery life ; Cheap for a Surface
Not very powerful

The Surface Go 2 excels at portability at a time when there's nowhere to go.
Excellent build quality and design ; Long battery life ; Bright and colorful display ; LTE option available at launch
Pricey after affordable base model ; Type Cover not included ; Low performance for the price
The Surface Go 2 has a bigger screen, longer battery life and better performance than its predecessor, though you need to prepare to exit budget territory to get one of the better configurations.

Souped up now, Microsoft's tablet retains its great design and is great to use, but it faces stiff competition today, including from other Windows tablets.
