TCL's top mini-LED TV is a bright big-screen value
High brightness ; Anti-glare screen ; Affordable price
Some backlight blooming ; No ATSC 3.0 tuner ; No 55-inch screen option
TCL’s flagship TV for 2023, the QM8 Class, is a high brightness mini-LED model, and its impressive local dimming delivers deep and detailed shadows. Available in screen sizes ranging from 65 inches up to 98 inches, QM8 class sets are affordably priced...

This massive TV is brighter, cheaper, and easier to use than a projector.
Excellent color highlights and local dimming, thanks to Mini LED tech. Google TV ecosystem has nearly every app and makes casting from mobile easy for guests. Center pedestal mount is easy to place on TV stands (with two or more people). 144-Hz refresh...
Models over 65 inches are large and hard to place. Doesn’t have the widest viewing angle in wider rooms. Many folks could live with a cheaper model.

TCL's flagship QM8 Class TV delivers excellent picture quality and the Google TV platform along with plenty of other features, though it's priced higher than the company's previous models.

Searing brightness, a superb image and an affordable price cement this TCL's place at the top of the midpriced TV category. Too bad the smallest one is 65 inches.
Relatively affordable ; Excellent overall image quality ; Best-in-class brightness and contrast ; Capable Google TV system
Not as accurate as some competitors ; Only available in 65-inch size and larger

TCL continues its march on the home theater space with its new TCL QM8 series mini-LED TVs, and the competition should take notice.
Very nice design and premium build quality ; Pedestal stand is great ; Fantastic brigtness ; Fantastic HDR performance ; Excellent blacks and wonderful color saturatioon ; Google TV is way better than the last time I used it ; Excellent price to value...
Sound quality is good, but could be improved. Nothing a TCL soundbar can't fix. ; Needs more space to fit a soundbar under the display
The Quick Take above pretty much gives you the wrap up. The TCL QM8 offers a ton of features, performance, and value packed into a price point that most average users can understand. The QM8 performs like a TV twice its price.

The 2024 TCL QM8 is an excellent bright room mini-LED TV.
Brightest TV we've ever measured ; Impressive contrast ; Sturdy pedestal stand
Narrow viewing angle ; Midtones slightly bright
The TCL QM8 is the brightest TV Reviewed has ever tested, and for that stat alone it’s impressive. Adding in the fact that it also has excellent black levels (for a mini-LED TV) and dimming zone control, the QM8 is an easy recommendation for anyone...

The QM8 comes hits 5,000 nits and comes with 5,000 dimming zones
5,000 nits peak brightness ; Up to 5,000 dimming zones ; 2.1.2 Atmos speakers
Bass response could be improved ; Only two HDMI 2.1 ports ; Upscaling could be an issue
The TCL QM8 (2024) pushes past the limits of last year's Mini-LED TVs with a 5,000-nit peak brightness and up to 5,000 dimming zones in the largest screen size. Some tweaks still need to be made, though, and we're slightly concerned about the upscaling...

A brilliantly bright TV that can deal with tons of ambient light.
Just about any misstep is enough to tip the scales, and for that reason, the QM8 becomes a slightly trickier value proposition, though there’s plenty to appeal to most people. If your living room has ambient lighting issues, its high level of...

Performance Features Ergonomics Value
One significant difference between building a home theater around a video projector or a conventional flat-screen television has been image size. Projector fans will point to the immersion that big-screen projection offers, with the screen size limited...

The new QM8 Class TV by TCL offers premium, flagship-level features at a reasonable price.
Very bright mini-LED panel that delivers excellent picture quality, even in well-lit rooms. ; Stunning picture quality with accurate color range. ; Great contrast and the local dimming feature creates deep blacks. ; A built-in gaming mode that allows...
The price is a bit high compared to previous models. ; Certain settings are a bit hard to locate; Such as adding a new audio device. ; No ASTC 3.0 Support.
