Acer Aspire R11 review: Budget highs and lows

It's a pretty good time to be shopping for a cheap laptop, with hybrids, Chromebooks and plain ole laptops each available from a couple of hundred quid these days. So there's no need to spend a small fortune on your next portable computer. The Acer...

Great battery life, comfy keyboard and solid trackpad, decent connectivity

Poor TN screen kills the appeal of the hinge, it's not truly powerful

The Acer Aspire R11 multi-form laptop benefits from being that bit bigger than something like the older Acer Switch 10. It's much more comfortable to use for a good few hours of typing, browsing, or whatever needs doing.

Acer Aspire R 11 review

Enjoy beauty on a budget, but not much else

Pretty design ; Low price ; Four viewing modes

Hefty weight ; Weak processor ; Standard HD display

You can certainly do better than this machine, but it might tempt you with its gorgeous design and low price.

Acer Chromebook R11 review

Acer's latest Chromebook has a touchscreen with a few special tricks. We find out how useful they really are in our Acer Chromebook R11 review.

The R11 is a decent, if unspectacular device. Having the option to position it in a variety of modes is fun, but the sometimes sluggish performance makes it hard to recommend to anyone who wants to do more than a couple of simultaneous tasks. If your...

Acer Aspire R11 (R3-131T) review

A sturdy convertible with fantastic battery life, but Windows 10 touchpad glitches are a big problem

For this reason, it's very difficult to recommend the Acer R11 as a Windows 10 laptop. If you buy it and don't complete the Windows 10 upgrade, you'll have a competent Windows 8.1 machine, but Windows 10 should be avoided for the moment. For...

Acer Aspire R11 hands-on review

At its launch event in New York, Acer announced a whole bunch of new products including smartphones, wearables, tablets, laptops and PCs. One of the more interesting items is a laptop and tablet in one which has a 360 degree hinge. Here's our Acer...

As with Acer's other products, the Aspire R11 is cheap and cheerful. It looks quite nice and hinge works well but we're not sure the specs are really good enough to make this a decent purchase. Our main issue is the poor viewing angles which don't...

Acer Aspire R 11

Acer's Aspire R 11 might not be a multitasking wizard, but it serves its purpose as a notebook that covers the basics for cost savvy users.

Solid typing experience and trackpad feedback; Good battery life

Heavy plastic construction; Processor underpowered for serious multitasking

Perhaps then, the R 11 is not designed to compete on the same level as Acer’s other entry-level Aspire notebooks, or indeed other competitor offerings. Instead, it seems like the kind of device for users not fully enamoured with the lure of...

Firm eyes Lenovo's Yoga 3 Pro with 360-degree hinged laptop

Acer will hope that the Aspire R11's mid-range price will persuade buyers away from the pricey Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, but we're not convinced it will.

Acer Aspire R11 R3-131T Convertible Review

Cute top-seller. Acer's little 11-inch convertible features a new Braswell CPU and a 360-degree hinge. However, contrary to the manufacturer's touting, the Aspire R11 is not a jack of all trades.

Solid build, Decent battery life

Upgrading hard drive not possible, Viewing angle dependent TN screen

Acer's Aspire R11 R3-131T likely attracts attention with its stylish looks that barely presents shortcomings in build. Unfortunately, the maintenance options and interface positioning are worthy of improvement. It looks similar for the input devices....

Acer Aspire R11 Review: Can A Low Priced Convertible Laptop Deliver?

The Acer Aspire R11 is aiming to bring a lot while keeping costs down. Can a convertible, touchscreen laptop costing under $400 really deliver in real world use?

Solid battery life. Touchscreen. Converts into various modes. Good speakers. Low Price. Well built.

Disappointing performance. Poor display. Inconsistent and buggy experience.

You will have to either spend more money or sacrifice some features if you want a device that does more than temporarily impress your friends. The tradeoffs and compromises here are simply overwhelming. What good is a laptop that can barely handle...
