Surface Laptop Go review

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go remains a decent choice

Affordable ; Excellent build quality ; Gorgeous design and display

No backlit keyboard

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go remains a highlight of the Surface lineup thanks to the ultra-approachable price, excellent build quality and gorgeous display. This laptop will redefine what budget laptops should look like, and it's perfect for...

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go review: Style on a budget

Microsoft has made an affordable laptop, but what's had to give in the process? We've been using the first Surface Laptop Go to find out...

Great design that looks and feels beyond the asking price ; Comfortable typing and trackpad experience ; Proper processor means it's capable outside of Windows 10 S

Fan can be loud and whistly when power is plugged in ; No keyboard backlighting ; Limited RAM/storage on entry model ; Middling battery life ; Less-than-Full-HD screen

Although there are some quirks - such as a whistly fan, a low numbers of ports, and limited storage in the entry-level model - otherwise the balance of features and performance make for a compelling affordable laptop.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go

The Laptop Go is a compelling new addition to the Surface lineup, but you'll need to spend much more than the £549 advertised

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go review

The Surface experience gets distilled to the bare essentials

Light and well-built ; Vibrant 3:2 aspect touchscreen ; Full-size keyboard and expansive touchpad

Internals merely average for the money ; No backlit keyboard ; Battery life only average

A well-built ultraportable that does the basics very well, but sublime design can’t make up for hardware shortcomings when rivals offer more power for less cash

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go review: Split personality

The Surface Laptop Go is a premium laptop at a lower price than you'd expect but it isn't the best budget laptop you can buy

Beautiful design ; Excellent display ; Fingerprint reader and Windows Hello webcam

Cheapest model only has 64GB storage and 4GB of RAM

Taken in totality, there are quite a few compromises being made by Microsoft, particularly in the cheapest £549 model. This is a laptop you should only consider if you’re prepared to treat it like a Chromebook – to access cloud-based apps and mainly...

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go review: Affordable on-the-go machine

You'll often find Microsoft parading offers for their Surface Pro and Laptop lineup, but don't forget they also launched the Surface Laptop Go - a device that sits right between a Surface Go and the Surface Laptop. Hop in to see how this hybrid...

Lightweight and portable ; Fingerprint biometrics-based power button single sign-on ; Touchscreen display for its price ; Overall performance and value

No Surface pen support ; Screen resolution is a little low ; No face recognition for Windows Hello login

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go review: Another shrunk-down Surface | IT PRO

The Surface Laptop Go shaves some weight, cost and features off the core Surface Laptop design

High build quality ; Great inputs ; Extremely portable

Lowered screen resolution ; Slow write speeds ; Not actually that cheap

Microsoft Surface Laptop Go Review: Economy of Scale

Attractive, mostly aluminum design ; Small and lightweight ; Comfortable keyboard ; Little bloatware

Sub-1080p resolution ; Middling battery life ; No fingerprint reader on base model ; Very poor specs on base models

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is a pretty, lightweight device with a premium feel, but the hardware inside doesn’t match what you can get for the price elsewhere.
